Extreme Canyoning Tour in Costa Rica

This extreme canyoning adventure starts just 20 minutes from Jaco! Keep reading to learn more, and you might also like to check out all our Jaco waterfall and canyoning tours!

After fueling up with an authentic Costa Rican breakfast, we hop into our 4×4 vehicles and drive up the mountain to our private reserve at an altitude of over 1000ft. Your guide will stop along the way to point out interesting flora and fauna and the incredible views of the ocean and countryside.

We take a safety-first approach, so we outfit you with the latest safety gear from Black Diamond in the USA. Your guide will then demonstrate the safe and proper use of this equipment before we make the five-minute hike to the first zipline. Here, you will enjoy two exhilarating “zips” over the river. As the adrenaline pumps, we move on to a dry training rappel to familiarize you with the proper technique.

After another short hike down the river, you can enjoy some opportunities for swimming and cliff jumping (4ft to 25ft). Of course, you can pass on this if you prefer! Now it’s time to experience some classic Costa Rica waterfall rappelling! You will complete four rappels of heights ranging from 50ft to 85ft.

And then it gets EXTREME!

The final rappel is the longest unassisted rappel in Costa Rica. It’s 150ft in height with a drop into a pool. Your guide will keep you safe and “backed up” at all times! Now we are deep in the canyon with other natural holes to plunge into and swim. The hike out is about 30 minutes and pretty steep. The total tour time is five to six hours, so you should be in good shape for this adventure.

Back at the base camp, you can proudly say “I am a canyoneer!”

Canyoning Tour in Costa Rica: Important Information

All of our tours will run rain or shine. When it rains here it is still relatively warm and the rain can actually enhance your experience while you are in the rain forest. However, if the rain is so strong that it creates conditions that your guide deems it unsafe, we will cancel the tour and you can reschedule or receive a refund.
