Welcome to our incredible crocodile boat tour in Costa Rica! Your crocodile safari starts with a cruise through a unique mangrove ecosystem. In this part of the Jaco crocodile tour, you will view the ample wildlife that calls this habitat home and learn about the river’s history. Keep reading to learn more about this Jaco crocodile tour, and check out our range of Jaco adventure tours and Jaco waterfall and canyoning tours for more high-octane activities!
We then arrive at the spot where wild crocodiles up to 18 feet long lounge in the sun. If we encounter the right crocodiles, you can witness the unforgettable sight of our guides feeding these incredible creatures. When this happens, your guide exits the boat and seems to put the crocodiles into a trance with the promise of food.
They slowly creep toward the guide who holds some chicken. And with a sudden burst of energy, you will experience the power of a crocodile’s jaw as it leaps up and snaps the chicken out of your guide’s hand. You will watch this awe-inspiring spectacle from the safety of a specially designed mangrove boat!

What to Bring
All of our crocodile river tours in Costa Rica will run rain or shine. When it rains here it is still relatively warm and the rain can actually enhance your experience while you are in the rain forest. However, if the rain is so strong that it creates conditions that your guide deems it unsafe, we will cancel the tour and you can reschedule or receive a refund.
Board our specially designed boat to begin your cruise on the Tarcoles River, which has the highest population of crocodiles in Central America!
Your guide will provide you with a photo chart with various birds and their names so you can easily identify them as you cruise through the mangroves.
You will see many crocodiles on this tour, some of which are up to 18 feet long and weigh as much as 800 pounds!
If we encounter the right crocodiles, your guide will get out of the boat and feed them chicken right in front of you; giving you the ultimate photo opportunity.
