Welcome to our monkey mangrove tour in Costa Rica!
Hop aboard our comfortable boat and enjoy an exciting ride with a small group under the shade of several tall species of mangroves.
These mangroves only grow in Costa Rica and a handful of select areas around the world, so this is a unique opportunity to explore a rare ecosystem.
Sightings of monkeys are almost certain as we see these friendly creatures on over 90% of our monkey mangrove tours in Jaco.
The monkeys have grown accustomed to seeing us over the years, so they may just jump on the boat for some fantastic photo opportunities.
But this is far more than just a Jaco monkey tour. We also watch out for sloths traveling through the tree canopy.
Then there are the nocturnal silky anteaters and several types of non-poisonous snakes resting in the mangroves!
And the tour unfolds to the songs of various marine bird species in the trees and gliding over the boat.

What to Bring
All of our tours will run rain or shine. When it rains here it is still relatively warm and the rain can actually enhance your experience while you are in the rain forest. However, if the rain is so strong that it creates conditions that your guide deems it unsafe, we will cancel the tour and you can reschedule or receive a refund
The drive from Jaco to the mangrove boat takes around 45 minutes.
As you meander through the calm shallow waters, your guide will educate you on the biodiversity and the different types of mangroves.
You may see birds, lizards, and snakes (yes, snakes), but you are in a boat so you have nothing to worry about.
Keep your camera ready because here come the monkeys! Our monkey boat tours in Costa Rica bring new meaning to the phrase ”Say hello to my little friend!”
Time has proven we are not a threat to the monkeys. In some cases, they may even board the boat! Get all those awesome shots your friends back home won’t believe are real.
