Looking for a rush? How about conquering cliffs, waterfalls, and the wild Costa Rican jungle with our extreme Jaco canyoning adventure? This tour will see you taking on the longest unassisted rappel in Costa Rica for the ultimate heart-racing experience!
But don’t worry, we’ll ease you into this thrilling excursion. We begin after fueling up with an authentic Costa Rican breakfast and hop into our 4×4 vehicles for a drive up the mountain to our private reserve. Located at an altitude of over 1,000 feet, stop along the way to admire the fascinating flora and fauna and sweeping views of the ocean.
We take a safety-first approach with all our Jaco waterfall and canyoning tours, so we outfit you with the latest safety gear from Black Diamond in the USA. Your Jaco canyoning guide will demonstrate the safe and proper use of this equipment before we make the five-minute hike to the first zipline. Here, you will enjoy two exhilarating “zips” over the river. As your blood is pumping, we move on to a dry training rappel to prepare you for your next stunt…
After another short hike down the river, you can enjoy some opportunities for swimming and cliff jumping from heights of four to 45 feet. Of course, you can pass on this if you prefer! Now it’s time to experience some classic Costa Rica waterfall rappelling. You will complete four rappels of heights ranging from 50 to 85 feet… And then it gets EXTREME!
The final rappel on this Jaco canyoning adventure is the longest unassisted rappel in Costa Rica. It’s 150 feet in height with a drop into a pool! But your guide will keep you safe and “backed up” at all times. You’ll land deep in the canyon, having accomplished an incredible feat! With the adrenaline still coursing through your veins, plunge into the natural pools and cool off with a swim. Back at the base camp, you can proudly say, “I am a canyoneer!”

All of our Costa Rica rappelling tours will run rain or shine. When it rains here, it is still relatively warm, and the rain can actually enhance your experience while you are in the rainforest. However, if the rain is so strong that it creates conditions that your guide deems unsafe, we will cancel the tour and you can reschedule it or receive a refund.
We will pick you up at our meeting location or your accommodation, then head south along the coast for 15 minutes before heading inland to our private ranch. Upon arrival at our base camp, feast on an authentic Costa Rican meal. Then we will equip you with the latest safety gear.
Our hike into the canyon is five minutes to the first zipline and training wall, where you will receive instructions and take a rappelling “practice run”.
The next hours are filled with hiking, four different swimming holes, three different cliff jumping spots, six rappels (including one at 150 feet high), and a gorgeous deep canyon to spend time in. The hike out is about 30 minutes and pretty steep. The total tour time is five to six hours, so you should be in good shape for this adventure.
