Poas Volcano, located in the Central Valley is a natural wonder all of it’s own with a large carter opening up almost one mile. The hypnotizing turquoise lake nestled in the crater is some of the most acidic water in all of Central America! This tour is unique as this is one of the few volcanoes in the world where you can walk right up to the crater and peek in! All along you are accompanied by a naturalistic guide that explains things along the way with plenty of history and informational tidbits about the area. After the volcano hike we will head back down to the town at the base of the volcano for a delicious Costa Rican lunch.
Afterwards, we begin our journey back to Jaco, stopping at a coffee plantation where you can see step by step, from bean to brew, how coffee is made and taste some of the most rich Arabic Coffee the world has to offer! This full day experience is sure to please everyone in the group.

Start your journey by being picked up at your hotel or condo at 7am by your English speaking naturalistic guide who will be with you the entire day, explaining things along the way. After the 2 ½ hour drive you will arrive at the base of Poas Volcano where we begin the easy hike to the crater allowing you the opportunity to look down into one of the most acidic lakes in Central America deep below.
Lunch and Coffee Plantation
After enjoying an authentic Costa Rican lunch we begin the drive back to Jaco Beach, stopping at Doka Coffee Plantation along the way where you can see the entire process of how coffee is grown and made - and of course taste testing!
